RSS Feeds

I have just developed an RSS feed through iGoogle. I really like the set up of the different feeds, which disperses the feeds in small boxes throughout the page with an easy view of all the feeds on one page. Obtaining the feeds was an easy process when all I needed to do was select the RSS icon,click on homepage link and then my favorite website's new info would be automatically on my iGoogle page. However, other websites such as my tech news required a bit more work. To sink in information from my tech news page I had to click on RSS icon, copy a URL and then paste it on my iGoogle Add stuff page, under the add feed section.

Language Translate Tool

I never realize how indepth Assistance technology was. There are many sites and software out their devoted to assisting people with different forms of technology involving the computer or electronic equipment. The Google translate was my favorite of these assistance sites because it not only translated whatever I typed from English to Italian but it also allowed me to listen to a voice say the translated language. In order to allow access to a translation site from my blog I instead used which made it extremelly easy to develope a tool on my blog for people to have fun with translating words into different languages. In order to do that on babelfish all you have to do is go to the bottom right side of the site and click on Add Babel Fish Translation to your site. After you click on that the site will link you to a page where it gives you a choice of inputting a translation tool onto a webpage or creating a tool for your webpage that turn all the words already on your page into any language you chose. you then pick which one you want and highlight the computer code it pops up and then paste it onto the html post of your blog. I checked out some other assistant technology sites and found a company called ViewPlus Technologies that actually developes printer that print out braile print on pages. And just by doing a little search on the web I found out that there is such a thing called Photosensitive epilepsy where children with epilepsy get extreme headachs from just looking at computers and certain phones which I thought was pretty interesting.

Gliffy Technology

I am now exploring Gliffy communication technology. Gliffy is an organizational creation site that allows you to create organizational charts, Venn diagrams, flow charts or floor plans and share them on the internet or to emails. It can be very handy for business or education where organizational information needs to be shared to a mass audience. There are a couple of tips you need to know if you attempt to do an organizational chart like I did. The first tip is that if you need to duplicate a particular text make sure you have the original text the way you want it that way you will save time by not having to alter your duplication. Also, pay close attention to your use of copy and paste. If you use the shortcut ctrl C and V your image may past in a far away location. I had a lot of trouble with that and had to paste part of the line, image or text piece by piece in order to finalize my chart.
My organizational chart is the ranking system of an ancient Roman military force. Much of there titles of rank are used by our military institutions today, such as Leutinant or Captain. Here are some pictures of what ancient Roman soldiers may have looked like and their symbols. I hope these images give you a better connection to my chart.

Photo Show

The name of the technology I am exploring now is PhotoShow. It involves creating a photo slide show on a website that allows you to upload pictures that you have saved on your computer. You can select the pictures you want in order to create a slide show. You can also add bubble messages and other creative additions to make the slide show even more entertaining. That same website allows you export your slide show creation onto a blog or another communication based site that allows you to share it with the world. The website I used was roxiophotoshow.com and it was very easy to use. The tip I would give to those who may use this site is that you should make sure the bubble messages you create are the correct angle so the message doesn't get cut off in your slide show.

My Podcast Journey

The technology I am exploring is Podcasting. Podcasting is an audio creation which you can input into the internet so that people all over the world can listen. I used Audacity audio podcasting in order to develop an audio blog message and zShare in order to download the podcast to the internet so that I could input the audio on my blog. Podcasting is very useful for lectures, basic communication or just having fun with audio. I actually had a pretty difficult time uploading my audio file to the internet for blog viewing. I tried yourlisten.com first and that seemed to get stuck and then I attempted zShare and that actually seemed to work. I had a lot of fun doing the podcast because Napoleon is a very interesting subject for me. My tip is to be patient and pay close attention to what name you are saving an audio file under. Wav, mp3 and names similar to those are best. An audio file under the name project will not import onto the web. Another thing, its best to not upload wirelessly, you tend to get a better connection with a connected ethernet. Hope you enjoy Blog!
