Gliffy Technology

I am now exploring Gliffy communication technology. Gliffy is an organizational creation site that allows you to create organizational charts, Venn diagrams, flow charts or floor plans and share them on the internet or to emails. It can be very handy for business or education where organizational information needs to be shared to a mass audience. There are a couple of tips you need to know if you attempt to do an organizational chart like I did. The first tip is that if you need to duplicate a particular text make sure you have the original text the way you want it that way you will save time by not having to alter your duplication. Also, pay close attention to your use of copy and paste. If you use the shortcut ctrl C and V your image may past in a far away location. I had a lot of trouble with that and had to paste part of the line, image or text piece by piece in order to finalize my chart.
My organizational chart is the ranking system of an ancient Roman military force. Much of there titles of rank are used by our military institutions today, such as Leutinant or Captain. Here are some pictures of what ancient Roman soldiers may have looked like and their symbols. I hope these images give you a better connection to my chart.

Photo Show

The name of the technology I am exploring now is PhotoShow. It involves creating a photo slide show on a website that allows you to upload pictures that you have saved on your computer. You can select the pictures you want in order to create a slide show. You can also add bubble messages and other creative additions to make the slide show even more entertaining. That same website allows you export your slide show creation onto a blog or another communication based site that allows you to share it with the world. The website I used was roxiophotoshow.com and it was very easy to use. The tip I would give to those who may use this site is that you should make sure the bubble messages you create are the correct angle so the message doesn't get cut off in your slide show.

My Podcast Journey

The technology I am exploring is Podcasting. Podcasting is an audio creation which you can input into the internet so that people all over the world can listen. I used Audacity audio podcasting in order to develop an audio blog message and zShare in order to download the podcast to the internet so that I could input the audio on my blog. Podcasting is very useful for lectures, basic communication or just having fun with audio. I actually had a pretty difficult time uploading my audio file to the internet for blog viewing. I tried yourlisten.com first and that seemed to get stuck and then I attempted zShare and that actually seemed to work. I had a lot of fun doing the podcast because Napoleon is a very interesting subject for me. My tip is to be patient and pay close attention to what name you are saving an audio file under. Wav, mp3 and names similar to those are best. An audio file under the name project will not import onto the web. Another thing, its best to not upload wirelessly, you tend to get a better connection with a connected ethernet. Hope you enjoy Blog!

This is my interpretation on the Battle of Austerlitz during the Napoleonic Wars during the early 19th Century and late 18th Century. The Battle of Austerlitz took place on December 2nd 1805 against Napoleon and his French Empire and two of the major powers of the Third Coalition, Russia and Austria. Napoleon suffered only 1,305 dead and 6,940 wounded. While, Russia and Austria on the other hand suffered 15,000 dead or wounded and 12,000 captured.

Some Info about myself

I have never made a blog before so I am pretty excited. I hope you all enjoy it. I'm going to start off by telling you a little about myself.

I am 28 years old and was born and raised in the northwest side of Indianapolis and went to Pike Highschool. I am currently a senior at I.U.P.U.I. and a Social Studies Education major. I live currently in dowtown Indianapolis with my beautiful wife who I probably couldnt function without. I am definitly a man's man and don't have an organizational bone in my body, but I'm trying to get better.

I have a passion for history, especially military history. my favorite genre is World War 2, although all past wars interest me, as well as political rivalries. How can you not be fascinated with the tensions between the Third Estate and Louis the XVI during the French Revolution or the rage of the Continental Congress against English Parliament during Pre-American Revolution. When you look at past societies and great people of history it helps you to gather strength within yourself and say if Napoleon can conquer most of Europe or Martin Luther King lead a race againt oppression, or Akhenaten change a nation's entire religion by pure will why can't I just graduate college or become a leader in my community.

I believe history is the study of human nature. It is our impulses, decisions and passions. It is a story that never ends because there are always new discoveries and interpretations. It is a dectective's case that never ends.
